Loving Limits in a Digital Age with Kim John Payne

Presented By:

wild-earth
Mountain Laurel Waldorf School

Wild Earth and Mountain Laurel are pleased to be hosting Kim John Payne, author of Simplicity Parenting, the #1 bestselling book on parenting, on May 12, 2016 for a public lecture at SUNY New Paltz entitled, “Loving Limits in a Digital Age.”

Kim John Payne M.ED approaches this timely and challenging topic not as an anti-screen advocate, but rather from a passionately pro-family connection perspective.

Learn how to create strong family connections using calm discipline and warm, firm, loving limits in a world where increasingly screens reign supreme.

During the evening’s lecture, Kim John Payne will share how to build focus, grit and good judgment within our children so that our kids can shape their own self-esteem, hopes and dreams.

We will learn how aloneness is different from loneliness and how we can help our kids to know the difference.

We will address concerns about our “screen restricted” children no longer fitting in with friends and the “disadvantages” of limiting screen media.

Together, we will learn how to ensure that our kids do not become overwhelmed with media driven images and how we can encourage respect when negative images of adults pervade pop culture.

Understand the alluring world of no boundaries that screen use can develop and how this can make discipline even more difficult.
