Nature Everywhere Afterschool

Nature Everywhere Afterschool Program is an outdoor, nature‑based program for Kingston area students in grades 3-5. Designed as a gentle bridge to middle school, it offers a safe, nurturing space for children to unwind, explore, and grow after the school day.

Daily Rhythm

Children arrive at the stone house to share healthy, locally sourced snacks and ease into the afternoon. They can choose from calming, sensory-rich activities that let them learn and regulate at their own pace.

Once everyone has arrived, we gather in an opening circle to greet one another, orient to our day and share in gratitude. After suiting up in high‑quality outdoor gear (provided for all students), we head outside to explore, play, and learn in nearby natural spaces.

Places We Explore

Students spend time in:

  • The forests and trails of Hasbrouck Park and KLT Forest Sanctuary.
  • The gardens at JFK and the Rondout Gardens.
  • The fields, tree line, and Pollinator Garden at JFK Elementary School.

These varied outdoor classrooms invite curiosity, physical activity, and hands-on learning across the seasons.

Community‑Rooted Learning

Nature Everywhere is a true community collaboration. Each week, guest educators and local artists join us to lead experiences in ecology, storytelling, movement, visual arts, and more, giving students direct connections to the people who care for and celebrate this place.

What Children Gain

By the end of the season, students typically:

  • Develop expanded sensory awareness and comfort outdoors.
  • Build social skills, empathy, and a deeper sense of self and belonging.
  • Form new friendships and strong peer connections.
  • Strengthen resilience, confidence, and a sense of stewardship for the natural world.

Our highly trained instructors provide attentive supervision, allowing us to offer a wide range of activities that meet different interests, energy levels, and needs, ensuring every child can participate fully as a strong contributor to the community.
