We are so pleased to announce that the Dyson Foundation recently awarded a Management Assistance Program (MAP) mini-grant in the amount of $9,300 to support racial equity at Wild Earth.
With this and other donated funds, Wild Earth will engage Ava Bynum of Omnymyst and Callie Jayne of Rise Up Kingston to create and implement a prioritized series of changes to support racial equity in our growing organization.
As Wild Earth develops new partnerships with underserved youth in the Hudson Valley cities of Kingston, Poughkeepsie, Newburgh, Ellenville and the Rondout Valley, we are serving a more racially, ethnically, and economically diverse community than ever before.
We feel it is essential to create a shared understanding of racial equity and other forms of oppression and to translate those learnings into meaningful experiences for the young people we serve.
By developing a deeper sense of how race influences our organization, program culture, outreach and more, Wild Earth is committed to ensuring that our impact is culturally appropriate, well-considered, and ultimately positive.
Wild Earth’s mission is to lead transformative nature immersion experiences that cultivate character, confidence, passion and perseverance in New York’s youth. We are excited to be partnering with the Dyson Foundation, Omnymyst, & Rise Up Kingston to build a more just future for youth in the Hudson Valley.
Wild Earth joins inspired leaders in offering multi-generational programs and events that strengthen connections with ourselves, others, and the Earth while building ecological, social and cultural resilience. Located along the Shawangunk Ridge in New York’s Hudson Valley, Wild Earth is a not-for-profit that runs nature-based programs for children, teens, families and adults. More about Wild's work.
