Need Financial Aid? Click here.

Our financial aid philosophy is take what you need and give what you can. We recognize that there are economic hardships, and we want to be accessible to all, so we ask that you pay whatever it is that you can.

The more you can pay, the more children we are able to extend aid to. Before you request financial aid we ask families to consider if there are family members or friends who might help provide a scholarship to your family for this program.

While nobody has ever been turned away for lack of funds, our ability to accommodate financial aid requests rests on the strength of our program enrollment and the generosity of the individuals, businesses and foundations that partner with Wild Earth to make financial aid possible.

We're in this together! Many of us are stretching ourselves to make sure that cost doesn't get in the way of anyone playing, exploring and learning in nature.

How to ask for aid–

Requests for financial aid are processed alongside your registration. This enables you to reserve a space in the program while our team is reviewing aid requests. Register now and reserve your space in Coil Basketry Workshop today.

Coil Basketry Workshop

Coiled baskets are an ancient and versatile method of constructing vessels for a variety of functions and from a wide variety of materials.

This workshop will focus on the use of various grasses, sedges, rushes, pine needles, cedar bark, cattail leaves, iris leaves, wool, and recycled/reusable materials from our modern world. Through this workshop you will find that nearly any wild or found material can be used to make a beautiful and functional basket.

Creating baskets with found natural materials especially is a creative and fulfilling way to work with your hands, get to know your environment, and create one of a kind pieces of functional (or non-functional) artwork. There are many ways to approach basketry as a beginner —twining, plating, doing free-form work are just a few examples. The most versatile, approachable, and fun is coiled basketry!

We will be providing all of the supplies. If you are excited about crafting, working with your hands, using common materials such as cattails and grasses to create art, or even just gathering with a group of warm and kind people on a winter day and learning a new skill please consider joining us!

Come enjoy a cold winters’ day with us and enjoy the company of others as we create beauty with our minds, bodies, spirits, and the natural world. We are confident that everyone will leave with a completed basket, the skill to create more baskets in the future, and the inspiration to explore the landscape.
