Screech Owl Camp

Each summer, for more than a decade, children have come together at Screech Owl Camp to explore, play and make the woods their home.

In the shade of hemlocks and hardwoods, a gentle stroll from crystal-clear mountain streams, we build a village in the forest and deepen our relationships with each other and the natural world. We gather inspiration from the forest to guide our activities through movement, song, crafts, stories, games, fire and fun!

Children walk away from Screech Owl Camp feeling at home in nature and at home in themselves. Our Screech Owl staff is filled with seasoned teachers and naturalists who meet children where they are and help them to find harmony and joy both within the group and the forest.

At Screech Owl Camp, our days are held by a strong and regular rhythm, providing children the safety and stability of predictable routine.

Our sensitive, attentive Screech Owl instructors follow the curiosities of the children, allowing campers to follow their interests and emerging passions under the gentle guidance of caring mentors.

Each day begins with a morning circle where thanksgiving, songs and silly movement games bring us further into our bodies. During the day we’ll play amongst the trees, create bridges across the stream, learn earth living skills, build fairy houses and explore nature’s treasures.

We’ll take plenty of time during the day to recharge with snacks, lunch and rest. At the end of the day, with leaf and flower crowns on our heads, our faces painted decorated with rock paint, and smiles from ear to ear, we’ll return, energized from a day in the woods!

Screech Owl is where your child will:

• Play and explore the beautiful outdoors.
• Experience a variety of wilderness skills and crafts, story and song.
• Practice awareness, quiet-mind, telling the story of their day, animal forms, curiosity, exploration, and gratitude.
• Be in a nurturing environment to build self-awareness, confidence and group unity.
