Natural Fiber Rope and Twined Bags

Learn how to make your own natural rope, known as cordage, using material from plants found all around us in the landscape. Then explore how to use your homemade cordage to create functional, beautiful twined bags.

Twining is an easy-to-learn ancient technique used to create strong and durable fabrics out of a variety of materials. You will have the opportunity to practice making cordage out of natural materials and also to make a sample twined bag out of yarn. You will leave with the knowledge and skills to harvest your own natural materials and to continue creating both cordage and twined bags at home.
