Wilderness First Aid + CPR Certification: 2 Day Immersive Course

Who is this course for?

This course is for Woodsy Wanderers, Weekend Warriors, and Wilderness Leaders alike. Essentially, this is a course for people who spend time in the outdoors and want to feel the peace of mind that comes from being prepared and knowing more advanced techniques for preventing and responding to emergencies.

MOST PEOPLE DON’T KNOW…

Most people don’t know how to relieve choking, control a major bleed, or use critical life-saving tools such as an Epipen, AED, or Tourniquet. And so, they limit their experiences, travel, and adventure or worse yet, when they encounter emergencies they feel frozen and unprepared.
Your mission is to learn these and many other life-saving skills so you can Reduce anxiety, Be more self-reliant, and Adventure with Abandon.

After two highly immersive days, you will have the skills to prevent emergencies and effectively respond to those that can not be prevented. Imagine setting off on adventures feeling relaxed, self-reliant, and ready for anything!

Please note, CPR is typically completed online prior to the in-person course experience.

Tell me about the  format.

  • 16 hours, in person
    • In this highly immersive course, you will NOT sit for long periods of time, and you WILL get dirty. Our signature system alternates experiential learning games, realistic scenarios, lectures rich with meaningful stories, and opportunity for Q&A.
  • ~2 hours of online CPR coursework to be completed prior to the in person day

Will I get certified?

Yes! You will earn both a CPR and Wilderness First Aid certification.

Oliver Reitz, InstructorMeet the instructors:

Oliver Reitz, Instructor

Oliver has a long-held interest in bodies and healing. He got his start in health care as a teenager, working as a Certified Nursing Assistant and tutoring students in Anatomy and Physiology. He currently holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Education and Promotion and is a certified Wilderness First Responder, EMT, and Funeral Director.

Oliver’s interest in the outdoors came later in life, when he moved to Massachusetts in 2014. He discovered a love for the mountains and waterfalls of New England, and still can’t get enough. Oliver’s personal favorite adventure activities include hiking, backpacking, climbing, swimming, and snowboarding.

Through his work with The Venture Out Project, Oliver has been leading hikes and backcountry trips with the LGBTQ+ community for almost a decade. This work has been essential in his understanding of the outdoors and who belongs there. Oliver believes in increasing access to the outdoors to all people through education, representation, and dissolving barriers to entry.
