Family Camping at Harriman Outdoor Center

Join Wild Earth for 4-nights and 5-days of lake and forest family-camping awesomeness on the shores of Breakneck Lake.

Enjoy delicious fresh prepared meals, beach, paddle boats, 225 miles of trails, and even a child-friendly 3-foot freshwater-fed swimming pool just 40 miles from Manhattan!

Whether you’re tenting or sleeping in a cabin, you’ll have access to 64-acres of lake, heaps of wilderness and newly renovated first-class facilities including: dining hall, pavilions, fire-pits, grills, boats, central showers and bathrooms. This program is ideal for young families.

Bunk in a newly renovated first-class cabin or pitch your tent on a platform.

First-Class Cabins

The newly renovated cabins feature a spacious common room surrounded by private bedrooms. Common room comes equipped with electric lighting, small refrigerator, futon and a large dining room table. Each bedroom includes single beds with pillows, pillowcases and blankets. Bring your own sheets or sleeping bag and towel.

Tent Platforms

Set your tent up on a large wooden platform and enjoy the simplicity of life in the woods. Platforms are raised off the ground to help keep tents dry and include eye hooks to help anchor your tent.

Newly renovated shared bathrooms are nearby to the cabin and tent platforms. Bring your own tent and bedding.

Families are invite to enjoy AMC’s gorgeous site. We’ll be dining in the onsite AMC dining hall, enjoying ourselves by the beach, on the boats and on the trails.

Wild Earth will provide limited facilitation during the trip. Our goal is to bring together great families to enjoy one another’s company and to connect more deeply in the woods. Optional facilitated Wild Earth activities will include: gratitude and connecting to other families each morning, coordinating day-trips & hang-by-camp activities (hiking, fireside crafts, boats on lake, enjoying beach and pool), “Story of the Day” reconnecting before dinner and fireside adult hang time in the evenings.

FOOD:

Breakfast and dinner are provided onsite by AMC. Breakfast is served from 7:30 AM – 9:30 AM, dinner at 6PM sharp. Food allergies and vegetarian needs can be accommodated upon prior request.

AMC does not provide lunch. Families are responsible for bringing their own lunch. Grills are available for cooking. To-go trail lunch or deli sandwiches are available for purchase on an a la carte basis.
