Ropes: 4-Day Backpacking Adventure for High School Teens

    Ready for adventure?

Join a crew of intrepid High School students and Wild Earth’s stellar instructors for a 3-night, 4-day trek through the Catskills.

When it comes to transformative outdoor experiences there is one type of trip that always sticks out: the long distance trek. There are many aspects to the experience that will shift how you feel and how you respond to the world around you. Through many miles of hiking, the quiet moments of observation and reflection, and the deep bonding that one experiences as part of a team, you can’t help but be transformed.

    31.2 miles: The Hike

Our route will traverse 31.2 miles of Catskill trails, including the tallest peak in the Catskills (Slide Mountain), the greatest elevation gain for a single trail (2593’ at Peekamoose Mountain), and will bring us into wild forest and wilderness lands of the Catskill Forest Preserve (America’s first wilderness).

Aside from the physical and mental challenges we will face, we will also take time to learn about the ecological and cultural history of the areas we will pass through. No doubt this will be much more than a simple walk in the woods!

    A Collaborative Adventure

Every day, we will come together as a pack to review the routes, evaluate our resources (ie: water, food, firewood), plan for meals and set up camp. We will also look at the distance we need to travel to meet our target, the current conditions and discuss how we might need to adjust our plan to ensure the safety or comfort of the group.

Those who participate in this journey will learn what it takes to cover large distances, with nothing but a well-formed plan and what they can carry on their back. We look forward to sharing this journey with you and are excited to create lasting, memories with you, as you learn the skills that will prepare you for a life full of adventures.

Register now and reserve your space in Ropes: 4-Day Backpacking Adventure for High School Teens today. Space is limited.
